Cocoa Beans

Let's mark 10 years of the Cargill Cocoa Promise!

In 2012, we launched the Cargill Cocoa Promise, our signature program to deliver a transparent and sustainable cocoa supply chain while enabling farmers and their communities to achieve better incomes and living standards growing cocoa sustainably.

A decade later, we reach more then 222,000 farmers and 660 farmer organizations across Brazil, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Ghana and Indonesia.

Committed to cocoa & progress

As Cargill, we sit at the center of the cocoa supply chain, giving us a unique role in connecting farmers, customers and consumers. That’s how we help make the world’s food system more sustainable, resilient and accessible.

For farmers

We support cocoa farmers and farmer organizations in building resilient farming businesses and protecting natural resources. We empower them to become agri-preneurs by building their capacity, improving their access to resources, diversifying their incomes and strengthening socio-economic resilience in cocoa growing households.

For communities

We work with our partners and the cocoa communities to implement community-driven initiatives to help prevent and remediate child labor, broaden access to education and empowering women entrepreneurs and work with experts to design and implement practical, scalable solutions.

For customers

Through our leading digital infrastructure, we provide greater transparency, and traceability from bean to bar. We innovate sustainable offerings that help them meet their commitments and tell a powerful story to consumers who want to know their chocolate was made the right way.

Connected with communities & partners for more

Partnerships are key to transforming the cocoa sector and drive positive impact. We use the power of more than 60 partnerships to accelerate and magnify our efforts to achieve sector transformation. Together, we build capacity to improve socio-economic and climate resilience for cocoa farmers, enhance safety and wellbeing of children and families in cocoa growing areas, promote environmental best practices and protect forests.

Sustainable Cocoa - Timeline

Cocoa's collective power

We are committed to the future of a sustainable cocoa sector. There are many reasons to celebrate progress over the last decade, but we also know we want to do more. Our teams around the world innovate with purpose, empowering our partners and communities. Our online timeline shows all the key milestones we have reached and as we continue our sustainability journey with partners and customs this progress reinforces our deep belief: that through our collective power, we can create a more sustainable cocoa sector for generations to come.
