Focusing on what matters most

We have identified our priority issues to determine where we can have the most impact

We have always kept abreast of the sustainability trends and issues related to our business. In 2014 we began formalizing this process, carrying out an in-depth assessment of the most pressing sustainability issues at play within the cocoa sector and examining Cargill’s ability to influence these issues.

Our assessment identified several areas of vital importance where we believe we can make a real and lasting difference. They include improving livelihoods and productivity, eliminating child labor, providing access to education, enhancing food security, promoting better nutrition, and tackling deforestation.

The highest priority issues are shown in the upper right-hand quarter of the issue map. These high priority issues have informed the development of our Sustainability Goals, ensuring that we focus our resources on the most pressing areas across our supply chain, where we can have the greatest impact.
