Education

The Cargill Foundation supports programs that are rigorous, curriculum-driven and embedded in other areas of learning at the school or district levels in the areas of STEM and College and Career Readiness.

Key 2025 dates for education grant applications in the areas of STEM Education and College and Career Readiness are:

  • July 14: Applications sent to nonprofits (by invitation only)
  • August 1: Applications due
  • Mid-September: Grant award notifications

STEM Education:

The Foundation supports STEM Education programs that increase equitable access and participation in STEM, teacher effectiveness, and STEM proficiency for students in grades K-12.

STEM organizations of interest: 

  • Community organizations serving low-income, and BIPOC populations with a high proportion of youth in grades K-12.
  • Organizations with programs that work to improve understanding of STEM topics and interest in STEM learning.
  • Organizations that integrate in- and out-of-school programming that encourage interest and success in STEM pathways.
  • Organizations with programs that provide teachers with professional development or access to STEM resources and knowledge.
  • Organizations with programs that work to create and ensure equitable access to STEM learning and participation.

College & Career Readiness:

The Cargill Foundation supports College & Career Readiness programs that improve academic and career knowledge, skills, and competencies to prepare students grades 6-12 for success in post-secondary pathways.

College & Career Readiness organizations of interest:

  • Community organizations serving low-income, and BIPOC populations with a high proportion of youth in grades 6-12. 
  • Organizations with programs that utilize school-based and out-of-school mentors, advisors, and caring adults to enhance support.
  • Organizations with programs that facilitate collaboration/alignment between high school and post-secondary curriculum to increase college readiness.
  • Organizations that provide programs to increase career readiness, development of workforce skills, and planning for post-secondary career and technical pathways.
